The Life Assessment Meme
Life is short. And you only get one. Even if you get more than one, you don’t remember it, and you have every reason to believe that after you die you’ll either be dust, moving on to a higher (or lower?) plane, or reincarnated as something/someone else. The point of this isn’t what you believe, its that your life, as you are living it, is the only life that you in this life is going to have. So Carpe Dium citizen, Carpe Dium.
1) What do you think is your life expectancy?
Honestly? I have a very stressful life (mainly because I stress out about things way too much and get angry), I am very tell and slightly overweight. I’ve also got bad luck with physical accidents (i.e. car crashes) despite good luck and blessing in other areas, so I’d say 65.
2) What does this system say your life expectancy actually is?
Answer
Life Expectancy 83
Details
Ideal Weight 191
Biggest positive factors Age of grandparents,Cholesterol level,Drinking
Biggest negative factors Gender,Weight,Personality type
Assumptions & Simplifications
This calculator uses the averages for life expectancy based on your age, sex, family history and personal lifestyle.
3) Are you surprised?
Not by a long shot. I'm actually QUITE surprised I'm supposed to live that long.
4) Does it change your behavior at all? Not really. I try to live each moment as if it is my last while still being sane about the whole thing.
5) If you had 24 hours to live starting RIGHT NOW, what would you do? Spend it with Jennifer. I’d stay awake the whole time. I’d drive with her back to North Georgia and look at the stars at night and watch the sunset and sunrise. There is something beautiful about both. I’d say goodbye to my family and friends and I’d have at least two last meals where I would have all kinds of ridiculous amounts of food.
6) If you had a month to live starting RIGHT NOW, what would you do? Well for the first 30 days of it would be spent frantically finishing the 4th and 5th novel. I’d also rapidly finish the musical (at least the text part) that I’ve been working on for years and make provisions to have it finished. I’d make a series of stops at the best restaurants in Atlanta and eat at one a day for each day, and then read some of the best books or see the best movies I could. The last day would be largely spent the same way as the first without the last meal being with as much food but instead just something I liked.
7) If you had a year to live staring RIGHT NOW, what would you do? Everything for the 5th and 6th answers, plus I would take the one way trip around the world that I’ve always wanted to take. I’d also write the 6th and 7th novel, finish the T7 product, go to Gen Con, Dragon Con, World Con, Uber Con and Comic Con. I’d also see the Grand Canyon and go on a Cruise, probably a gamer cruise. I would probably run a final email game, even though I don’t ever plan on running another one again. I also picture myself doing a lot more charity work in terms of volunteering. Given how the most efficient thing I’ve done so far to help charities is grant writing, I picture myself doing a LOT of that.
8) If you died RIGHT NOW, what would you be most proud of accomplishing in your life? Well that’s a lot of things. Despite the fact that I’m no longer Mormon, the fact that we got sealed in the temple means a great deal to me; not because I honestly believe it matters to our eternal happiness, but because it was something I’d always wanted to do and I did it. I’d also have to say that, despite the occasional rocky situation, maintaining positive relations (or at least doing the best *I* could in the situation) with everyone in my family would rank up there. Every second I’ve spent with Jennifer. Writing three novels. Starting a business (despite it being pathetic.) Learning to make movies. Getting my Master’s degree. Getting my Bachelor’s degree. Completing the 10 year game with Lucky Day that was run initially by Byeard Maggot. Having run many kickass role playing game campaigns. Visiting Ireland . The public service I did while I was on my mission. Visiting almost all of the States. Spending a good amount of time in Washington D.C. visiting the things that I wanted to visit. Finally getting to see all of a lot of show’s I’d always wanted to see; or simply watching those shows and sharing those moments with people I care about including Buffy, Angel, B5, DS9 and Supernatural. Going to Gencon at least once. Attending Dragoncon every year while I’ve been in Atlanta . Being at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Having a job since I’ve been 16 (despite the fact that a good chunk of them have sucked.) Becoming a master Tech Writer (finally.) Being politically active and trying to make the world a better place. At least starting to do work with charities even though I would want to do more. Surviving about 10 car crashes and getting more life as a result. Helping Grandma Lawson. Spending a year with Grandma Lawson at Augusta College . Watching my brother Greg do some absolutely AWESOME video games. Being able to witness all of my siblings graduate High School (even if I wasn’t actually able to go to three of them.) Climbing two or three mountains even if I think it sucked enough to never really want to do it again. Seeing the view made it worth it. Once. Having spent at least half of my life always trying to do the best I could with my time, even if my priorities changed. Actually having tried most types of alcohols (even if I can’t stand the taste of it.)
9) If you died RIGHT NOW, what would be the things that you would regret not doing? Finishing at least 7 novels. Never being a father. Never being able to go back to Ireland with Jennifer. Never having honestly, truly felt like I made the world a better place in a significant way. Not leaving behind a way to ensure that evil continues to be fought after my death. Not having made arrangements for a flash dance number. Not having a business that wasn’t pathetic. Never having used my Project Management degree. Not having seeing the Louvre. Never getting to pick a puppy that was my decision and not someone else's or circumstances.
10) What has answering these questions taught you? That despite all the things I’d regret, I’ve lived a pretty awesome life and I have firm plans to live a lot more with the time I’ve had. That setting goals and achieving them really is worth it, and that both the little things and the big things matter. And that of it all, the relationships I have with the people I care about, friends and family, really do matter more than anything else, and make anything I do that is worth doing better. Oh, and that the charity thing is more important to me than I had originally thought it was and that I should do a bit more of that.

It is always wise to look in the mirror
Your result for The Supervillain Archetype Test...
The Megalomaniac
Ambitious, Intelligent, Calculating
The Megalomaniac is the most prestigious of super-villain classes. If anyone is ever going to rule the world, it will probably be you.
Your main goal in life is power and domination, you have the tools to do it, and you know it. Megalomaniacs are intelligent and forceful, and they tend not to let their emotions cloud their judgment. Most of the time. They are usually found, or not found, working at the top of a huge structured organization, though many prefer to work by themselves.
The Megalomaniac has but one flaw, but its an invariably fatal one; arrogance. He knows that he can take over the world, and he isn't afraid to let you know, often elaborately and in great detail. They often do not foresee the fly in their ointment, because they do not want to admit that such a fly could exist.
Sample Megalomaniacs: Dr. Doom, Lex Luthor, Ras al'Ghul, Kang the Conqueror, Emperor Palpatine, Brain

When Sleep Fails
You have received this note because someone thinks you are a literary geek. Copy the questions into your own note, answer the questions, and tag any friends who would appreciate the quiz, including the person who sent you this. Don't bother trying to italicize your book titles. We know you want to. (Ok, I admit I wasn't tagged. Clay posted it and since I have been up for about 2 days.....)
1.What author do you own the most books by?
At the moment I think that is a three way tie between George R. R. Martin, Jim Butcher and Steven Brust.
2.What book do you own the most copies of?
Technically speaking...mine. I still have about 6 complimentary copies of d20 FBI lying around that I haven't figured out what to do with. Otherwise, I am a book minimalist in that I generally only own one copy of something. However I have OWNED about three different versions of Dragonlance Chronicles at one time or another. It took a while to get a decent hardback.
3.Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
No it did not bother I.
4.What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Nika Lux, but I also have a bit of nostalgia for The necromanceress, Tri'yel, Emma Frost, and Amaranth.
5.What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children; i.e., Goodnight Moon does not count)?
Magician Apprentice. Technically about five times. (Technically there is one other book but I'm trying to forget that one....)
6.What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
The Fellowship of the Ring.
7.What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
"A New World" by Michael Stackpole. Normally I like everything he writes, but I found myself utterly apathetic to anyone in it.
8.What is the best book you've read in the past year?
Anathem by Neal Stephsen.
9. If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
I'm deliberately not mentioning my first choice for personal reasons.
My second choice would be Increasing Your Financial I.Q. by Richard Kiyosaki. He doesn't get everything right, but broadly speaking if everyone read and incorporated a lot of the more basic things in that book our society would be better off as a whole.
10. What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
Besides one of mine? :) (And of those that would be Grenademan Vs. The Zombies....)
Hmm...Honestly? I'd have to say the Dresden Files, but done as mini series with a guaranteed contract to finish all of them.
11.What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel. Awesome book but even if you could film it, it still loose half of what makes it awesome.
12.Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
Sadly? Too weird to explain but I can try. It involved altering the metaplot of our reality by altering the metaplot of this one. It involved a role playing game I was WAY WAY too invested in that took about 10 years in scope and then ended.
13.What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
Sluggy Freelance.
14.What is the most difficult book you've ever read?
Partial is The Republic by Plato. I need to go back to it.
Complete is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo but it was worth every page.
15. What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you've seen?
As You Like It
16. Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
French, primarily because I like Voltaire and Descarte. Russian philosophers haven't really advanced the cause of Democracy.
17. Roth or Updike?
Neither, alas I had not read or become familiar with either.
18.David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?
Ditto.
19. Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Shakespear by a mile.
20. Austen or Eliot?
T.S. Eliot
21.What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Non christian scripture.
22.What is your favorite novel?
Ender's Game.
23. Play?
43 Plays for 43 Presidents
24. Poem?
Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came
25.Essay?
Discourse on the Method and Principles of Philosophy by Descarte
26.Work of nonfiction?
As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
27.Who is your favorite writer?
Jim Butcher
28.Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
Glenn Beck
29.What is your desert island book?
The Boy Scout Handbook
30.And... what are you reading right now?
Dragon Rider
Plain Honest Men
Ride a Dread Legion
The Tibetan Book of the Dead

Put an X by the states you have been to. The average is 8; how do you match up?
Should you chose to play, here's what you do:
Copy my note. Click on “notes” under tabs on your profile page. Select "write a new note" in the top right corner. Paste the copy in the body of the note. Delete my Xs and add your own. Change the number at the top, and add your title. Once you've saved, don't forget to tag friends (including me) on the right. Tag the same # of people as the # of states you've been to (I think you're limited to 30!). Just for fun, put an O beside the states where you have lived.

Mole People
by The Sad Sog
A raisin which was cut in half
And set upon my sister's back.
A swollen beast, the tiny spot,
Which scarfed down 10 times its lot.
It can be pulled like a rubber band,
Stretching out into a 2 inch strand.
I cut it off, the deal we made,
With scissors like dull knife blades.
And cutting in as tough as bone,
She cries out in a horrid moan.
I swear it was she who made me do it,
She begged me 'cut straight through it.'
It bled like more than striking oil.
A crimson cloud, a growing boil,
A pool that surged across her back,
The bloody mole. Alack! Alack!

Your result for The Social Persona Test (What kind of man/woman are you?)...
Lord of the Misfits (QLAM)
Quirky Liberal Alpha Male
You are similar to The Fratt Boy, in that you often try to take care of peers you percieve as less successful, but with the added benefit that you actually understand those on the fringes. You are a good ally to have, but people might be hurt if they believe your universal good will is a sign of a close friendship. You are nice to everyone, but you know who your true friends are. In terms of dating, you want someone who shares your interests; other than that, anything goes.
You are more QUIRKY than NORMAL.
You are more LIBERAL than TRADITIONAL.
You are more DOMINANT than PASSIVE.
When picking a date, consider: The Rarity (QTAF), The Renaissance Faire Wench (QLAF), The Librarian (QTBF), or The Emo Girl (QLBF)

Stomp.
You Are Combat Boots |
You are a complete and total rebel. You refuse to do what you're told, and you're quite stubborn. You really don't care what other people think of you. You are tough and often ruthless. You are independent, iconoclastic, and countercultural. You resent authority figures. You are very headstrong. No one is going to pressure you into being someone you're not! |

New Meme: Pretentious Wikipedia Madlib
Steps:
1) Choose a weighty and preferably controversial topic on wikipedia.
2) Go to the discussion page of that topic.
3) Copy and paste a large random section of it into your word processing program.
4) Do a global search and replace three times.
Replace:
The title with the first food that appears into your head.
The word "Wikipedia" with a good name for Mr. Snuffalufagus's imaginary friend.
The word "Source" with a non existent location.
We chose "Sarah Palin" and used these words:
Palin = Salsbury Steak
Wikipedia = Rumplefrumple Pompilompicus
Source = Castle Grey Skull
Hint: If your chosen selection doesn't have Wikipedia or Source, just pick two other words that are used a lot. You might try NPOV, BLP, Reliable or protest as other commonly repeating words.
Here is what we got:
It's more or less a dead issue anyway, since there's a Knik Arm ferry being built instead, but Zareth and Kelly are right, the purpose is/was to provide easier access to Point Mackenzie without having to go through Eagle River and the developed part of the Mat-Su area. Beeblebrox (talk) 02:04, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
The foregoing discussion of Alaskan geography consists of purest original research. If we have a reliable Castle Grey Skull, such as the Associated Press, reporting on a factual matter, we're not going to expunge that information from the article on the basis of disagreements by a bunch of pseudonymous Rumplefrumple Pompilompicusns with no authenticated credentials, whose observations have not been published elsewhere.
I particularly take issue with this argument by Kelly:
The Associated Press has printed several inaccurate stories about Alaska and Salsbury Steak, as mentioned by the ADN[4] and Salsbury Steak herself.[5] If describing the Knik Arm Bridge at all in this article, it's best to stick to what the project's official website says....
The first citation criticizes a single AP story about the pipeline. It contains not one word about the bridges. Even as to the pipeline, its pitch is more that the AP story was "skewed" than that there are flat-out falsehoods. The second citation is an ADN editor's blog post responding to Salsbury Steak's complaints about the paper's coverage. To my admittedly biased eye, he demolished her spurious complaints, but what's undeniable is that this item, also, has zero relation to the bridges. Finally, it is simply not Rumplefrumple Pompilompicus policy to ignore criticism from a Castle Grey Skull like AP in favor of sticking to a government's official line. Our coverage of the Three Gorges Dam could be considerably shortened by application of that standard -- but somehow I doubt that anyone pushing to apply that standard to a government run by a nationally prominent Republican will also be consistent and apply it to a Communist government.
If there's a significant controversy about the purpose of the Knik Arm Bridge, and/or its effects on Wasilla, then it should be possible to find a citation to each side of the issue. Of course, that doesn't mean it should be included. The implication of self-dealing by Salsbury Steak, in favoring a project that was generally too expensive but would help her town, was, IIRC, not a prominent part of the public attention paid to the "Bridge to Nowhere" issue, so it should quite possibly be omitted from this summary on that basis. It should not, however, be omitted on the basis that some Rumplefrumple Pompilompicusns disagree with the implication. JamesMLane t c 04:12, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
